TYRA SWENSON
New Director & Brand New Free Car Driver
Mary Kay has changed my life. I have become a better mom and a better wife because I have found something that has made me a more positive woman and something I truly enjoy. I am a mom of three beautiful kids. My oldest son Damon is eight, Bree is six and my young man Owenn is two. We are a very active family so wrestling, soccer, baseball, dance, gymnastics, four wheeling, hunting, camping and more are just a few of the things that keep us busy. My husband Matt is an amazing support system in whatever I choose and he loves his work with building power lines.
All who know me know that my passion is for Christ - He is the center of my life and has number one importance in my life! My passion is to share Christ by reaching out and showing others the love of Christ in our actions every day. We travel to Uganda once a year to visit kids we sponsor within two villages. We go there to remind these orphans they are loved and teach them the love of Christ. With my previous job this would not have been possible, but only 5 months after starting Mary Kay I was able to go on our first trip in December to Uganda. I am so grateful because this trip changed my life.
Prior to Mary Kay I was doing in-home daycare and I loved working with the children but was getting taken advantage of by the parents! I had hopes that in-home daycare would give me the flexibility and freedom I needed as a busy mom to be involved in sports and every activity my kids were involved in. Unfortunately, this was not the case. I would miss many events and things that meant a lot to me because having the daycare required so much of my time. Since we had made the commitment of going to Uganda annually, I was not able to give up my day care income until I found Mary Kay.
Two months after starting my business, I was able to give up the daycare full time and make Mary Kay my full time income, without sacrificing my faith or family time to do so. Not only did I become a happier person, but I also realized that this was the plan God had for me. I had known I needed a change....but I just didn't know exactly what that change was. God surprised me by providing it in a Mary Kay Starter Kit.
My reason for starting Mary Kay was to get out of the daycare business, but it quickly changed to being able to provide more for the children we have in Uganda, and being a blessing to other women with this amazing opportunity. I thank God every day that I am a Leader in this Company, and I am excited to expand and share this with every woman who feels the need for greater flexibility, freedom, AMAZING new girlfriends, confidence, positivity, strength, closeness to God, more time with their family, and endless opportunities.
Thank you to my Best Friend, Aric,a for sharing this opportunity with me and being a huge support in my life. Also thank you, Amie, for not letting me have excuses and always loving me through whatever came along. I am so blessed to have all the amazing women I do in my life!!

Dawn Thompson
Future Director
I am Dawn Thompson and just like so many women, I wear many hats. I am a mother of a beautiful six year old boy. He is the light of my life and his name fits his so well, Brighton Brooks Thompson. I am also a teacher, I have a bachelors in Early Childhood Development then went back to school to get my teaching certificate with a Special Education Endorsement in Mild and Moderate Disabilities. I am working on finishing up my Masters in curriculum and Instruction. I work at a level 3 school, Heartland. Heartland services all of the students who are not successful in the public school system. I teach anywhere from 7th graders to seniors. I love my job and the students that I am blessed to work with. I also teach a class to women with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) who are on probation. I am very blessed to be newly engaged to a wonderfully loving and caring man named Ryan. He has two beautiful daughters, Presely who is seven and Sydney who is four. We are looking forward to our big family and all of the fun we have ahead. I love to run and be outdoors. I really enjoy a good challenge so I have run several half marathons and one full marathon and am currently registered for the warrior dash.
Why and when would I do Mary Kay you might ask? The answer is very simple. It is the glue that keeps all of the other parts together. I started my business in September of 2011 because I wanted my skin care 50% off! My director, Buffi Kamery took a leap of faith and invited me to a facial then encouraged me to go to Amie's meeting. I went to my first Monday night meeting at the Marriott Regency and sat in a room with the most amazing, energetic, positive women and thought to myself, “Are they for real? Can I really do this?” Then Amie asked us to write the word FAITH on a piece of paper and to lay in on the floor and with full intention to stand on it. This action moved me to my core, I knew I was exactly where I was supposed to be with the people I was meant to do life with. I could go on and on about the hundreds of experiences I have had in the past five months but this would go on forever. I know a huge part of Mary Kay for me is that is allowed me to get my shine back! Somewhere in my life, for whatever reason, my shine became a bit dull. Life happens and that part of us that shines when we are little, that true self, gets lost or buried. When I started to plug into the Mary Kay world, that shine came back. The events are huge, Fall Advance was honestly life changing. Meeting with your friends, laughing out loud, celebrating each other and be loved unconditionally for who you are, right where you are. I have been moved to tears on so many occasions, overwhelmed by the honesty and authenticity of the women around me. I believe that once you open your heart to what Mary Kay is really about you get to soar! I hope that if you are reading this and you are new to the Mary Kay world or have been here for years that you will feel in your heart that we all deserve to shine! Go find your shine and share it with the world. |

Elissa Martin
Future Sr. Cadillac Director
Hello! I am Senior Sales Director Elissa Martin. I live in Callaway, Nebraska, a small town of about 600 people in a rural area with my incredible husband, Patrick. We have been married for 6 ½ years…a month and 8 days longer than I have been a consultant with Mary Kay! Patrick and I are active in our church, help with high school youth group, and love to travel. Patrick is a full time cowboy and loves to ride horses, rope, and rodeo, and I just love to be part of that in whatever aspect I can! My consultants laugh that sometimes when they call me with questions I am chasing cattle into the roping chute for Patrick! I am a full-time high school English teacher and speech coach who loves the income and the advancement opportunities of Mary Kay!
Almost seven years ago when I began my Mary Kay journey, we were newly married and were both full time college students. I was a double major in Elementary Education and Language Arts Education for High School and was incredibly excited about becoming a teacher. We commuted over 2 hours (one way) to school each day, I worked 3 part time jobs, and I was taking 23 credit hours. Oh, and did I mention we were newly married? J Needless to say, my life was very busy, and I didn’t think that I had time for one more thing. I also didn’t think that I would ever do something like Mary Kay, since I didn’t wear makeup and was a total tomboy. However, when the opportunity was introduced to me, it appealed to me for two reasons: the friendships and the money. Most of my friends were not in the same season of life as I was, and I found myself feeling very lonely. I was excited about the women in Mary Kay, because they were all so positive and fun to be around, and I needed more friends like that (who doesn't?). I was also intrigued by the idea of the income potential. I figured that if I could make $100/week from my business, I would be a happy woman!
So I started out working my business on a very part time basis, but very consistently. After a couple of months, I quit my part time jobs and just had Mary Kay as my college income, but my husband had a full time job so we never really had to depend on my Mary Kay income; it just provided my fun money. My business continued in that vein throughout college, my student teaching, and my first 6 months as a high school English teacher. Then, Patrick and I started to get our bills for student loans. Suddenly, my Mary Kay business became the vehicle for use to generate the income necessary to pay those loans off before we had grand children! We earned our first free car and I was a car driving consultant for a year before I made the decision to become a sales director. Our unit has now earned the use of two additional cars, including a Chevy Equinox, and are currently on target for our Pink Cadillac.
As I look at my life and my business now, I have an incredibly grateful heart for all that Mary Kay has brought into my life: personal growth, income, and a lifestyle that I had only dreamed of. I most love my Mary Kay business because of the choices it has given me. When I started, I wanted to make an extra $100 a week so that I could have some extra cash to use however I wanted. Almost 7 years later, the income from my Mary Kay business has allowed us to pay off debt, take fun trips, buy a home, and has given Patrick the opportunity to leave his office job to pursue his passion of being a cowboy. Even though I am still a full time high school English teacher and speech coach, my Mary Kay business gives me the option to make an incredible income that more than doubles my monthly teaching salary. I am so humbled by the blessings that this incredible opportunity has brought into my life and I am so excited for what the future will bring!
Mary Kay has truly transformed my life in every way. I am a much better person than I was 7 years ago. My marriage is stronger; in fact, every relationship in my life is stronger because of the skills I have learned under Amie’s mentorship. My passion is the opportunity to influence and impact others, and that is why I love being a leader in this company and in the Gamboian National Area in the Making. I am most excited about passing this amazing opportunity on to others as I earn my first Cadillac, develop offspring directors, and begin to build my own national area.

Raesha Cline
Brand New Free Director And Car Driver
My name is Raesha Cline and I’m stoaked to tell you a little about me. I’m single, have a great dog named Sally, a roommate and friend named Tony, and my passion is helping people and being an outdoors woman. A year ago my life was not this good, let me explain.
I joined Mk without ever having a facial or ever being able to even try the product. I was randomly called up and told about the business opportunity from a rodeo friend’s wife. He had suggested her to talk to me by saying, “Call her she wears make-up.” She called and it was really nice to catch up and talk to her because I knew she was a nice person and it wasn’t usual that I talked with upbeat positive people at that time. What I heard her saying is that she was in the business of enhancing women’s lives. What “I” heard her saying is there was a great opportunity for a discount. I’m sure she told me some other great things but I’m a person that hears what the advantages are for me and that’s what I took from it. It was also appealing to me that you could buy something for a dollar and sell it for two and that you could do this whenever and however you wanted.
At that time I was working a bartending job, in a serious long term relationship, traveling with the 2010 census crew across the state, training horses, had $32,000 in Medical bills from an unexpected appendectomy, and living with my parents . I was not really looking to add anything to my life but she had told me some great things and what I did realize is that everything she was offering me would not be available to me if I said no.
I am currently enjoying the personal growth and unlimited options I have with my Mary Kay. I never thought a year ago I could earn a free car with the company and that has been something elaborate, especially living in a small town of 1,200 people in southern Nebraska. My most special moment in Mk has been red jacket and being able to share with my team the things that were working and making it successful. Needless to say it was just another door opening to endless opportunities that I get to take the advantage of daily. I’ve grow in this business financially were I use my money to pay for fun stuff for myself and have also used my extra money to pay my medical bills that are now down to under $2,000 currently.
What most has changed about me is “ME.” I’ve been able to accept the person I was and fine tune the person I wanted to be by interacting with positive people. I’ve learned that everyone has life situations and we all have the same ones weather personally, family, or socially it’s just how we CHOOSE to let ourselves deal with those situations. I’ve been able to broaden myself and truly able to now trust people, especially women, and now have the ability to truly listen to people . Thank you Elissa Martin for giving me that random call and being undercover blessing to my life. |

Angela Schneider
Independent Senior Cadillac Sales Director
Hello!! I am Senior Cadillac Sales Director Angela Schneider. I live in Aurora, Nebraska with my two amazing children Thaddeus (11) and Hildi (9) and have owned a dance and gymnastics studio there for the last 12 years as well as being very involved in the community and promoting leadership development in high school programs throughout the state of Nebraska. My amazing Senior Director Amie Gamboian called me as a wrong number in February 2010—a true divine intervention, several pieces of he puzzle fit together and I had a ($1600) party over lunch for Amie, but proceeded to tell her for months I was not interested in Mary Kay. Amie continued to contact me, and her positive energy, integrity and amazing character are what attracted me to the company. God had placed a stirring in my heart that it was time for a change, and honestly my immediate reason for joining Mary Kay didn’t have anything to do with the marketing plan or the amazing products, just a desire to be in Amie’s space and soak up her positive energy. I plugged into the company more than I had originally planned, and rapidly moved up the career path, again not immediately because I made the decision I wanted those benefits from the marketing plan, but because the more I accomplished, the more I attended events, the more I got to be in the space of Amie and other incredible women who always challenged me to be the best version of myself that I can be. There are so many incredible things I love about my business and my life its difficult to select just a few to share. I LOVE being part of a company that is ALL about growing you and others!! The biggest benefits I have received are not the diamonds or cars but the woman I have become. This company provides so many opportunities for personal development and challenges, and when you have the opportunity to work on knowing and bettering yourself, you can better serve others, including your families. I LOVE waking up each day HAPPY and EXICTED about LIFE, my career and my family. I LOVE CHOICES, the freedom and flexibility to design my life exactly the way I want it to look (Amie always used to say this to me and I didn’t understand it, wow what a true joy it is when you understand and live it!) I LOVE the opportunity to change women’s lives and help them have the courage to design and live their lives exactly how they want to. I am honored to be a Director in the Gamboian Future National Area! Right now I am most excited about looking for and developing leaders that will stand with us on stage next year at Seminar as PILLARS of EXCELLENCE as we debut as a NATIONAL AREA!!

Arica Ohloff
New Director & New Free Malibu Driver
Hi! My name is Arica Ohloff and I currently reside in Davenport, IA. I am single with no children, and am completely blessed with an incredibly supportive boyfriend who recognizes my passion and purpose in my Mary Kay business. I graduated from the University of Iowa in May 2007 and landed a job working for a medical device company as an associate sales rep. A year and a half later I was promoted to Sales Rep with my own territory, and have been married to my job ever since! :-)
What was so appealing to me about the opportunity when I signed my Mary Kay agreement on June 6, 2011 was the freedom to work and weave the business into my life when and how I wanted with no territories and no quotas! I loved the fact that I would be able to purchase product for personal use at a 50% discount and the best thing about it was there was NO risk in taking a chance on the opportunity because there were no monthly minimums and a guarantee on the product. I wasn’t looking for anything at the time and actually found myself extremely busy already but I couldn’t find a logical reason not to invest 100 dollars to get the starter kit and see what the opportunity brought me. I could hardly wait to receive my starter kit in the mail and I was beyond excited to join my dear friends’ team!
What I love most about my business right now is the relationships I am building with women all over the country and the friendships I have had the opportunity to reignite through the Mary Kay opportunity. The positive attitudes and environment that encompass every single woman in Mary Kay has been inspiring and sincerely uplifting. They say you are like the five people you spend the most time with and surrounding myself with Mary Kay women has significantly opened my eyes to what a positive attitude looks like and has inspired me to be the best woman I can be.
Since becoming involved with the Mary Kay opportunity I have experienced tremendous growth as both a person and leader. I have grown personally in the sense that I am more focused on my strengths and talents rather then my weaknesses. I have identified my primary needs and have learned to connect the activities of my personal and professional life to fulfill those needs. Mary Kay is a big part of that fulfillment because I am able to work in an industry I am passionate about, I get to help enrich the lives of others and make strong connections through lasting relationships. Having the ability to lead my life in a way that fulfills me allows me to function at an optimal level, I wake up and can’t wait to grow my business and spread this wonderful opportunity. In the 4 months I have been with MK I have learned about leading a life of passion and purpose, gaining a deep understanding of what I want from my professional and personal life. As I’ve gained a better understanding of the business and the impact it can have on the lives of women I have become stronger and more passionate about spreading the opportunity. I’ve overcome challenges in order to grow my business and help empower women.
I am most excited about my continued growth as an individual and developing my leadership skills so I can help other women find their God-given talents and potential to live out their own dreams for themselves and their families. |

Shawna Manning
DIQ
Hi there!!! My name is Shawna and I have been married to an awesome man, Mike, for the past 13 years. We have a son named Tommy, and he is a funny boy. We also have a dog named Diesel, who is a 4 year old chocolate lab. I have been a nurse for 12 years and currently work at the VA in the Emergency Room.
The reason I wanted to join Mary Kay was for the leadership aspect. My manager at work gave me a copy of Mary Kay's autobiography, and encouraged me to read it. I was ecstatic at what I discovered about the Company’s philosophies, like basing your business on the Golden Rule. Another reason I wanted to be a part of Mary Kay was for the opportunity to help other women on their journey in becoming the best version of themselves, including me!
And finally another blessing that has been bestowed upon me since being a part of Mary Kay is the relationship that I have developed with God. Mary Kay stands behind God first, Family second, Career third and that is so refreshing! I had some personal goals in my life that I wasn't accomplishing in my nursing career, but since being a part of Mary Kay I can definitely make those goals come to fruition along with so much more.
I am most excited about helping the women on my team achieve and grow in their businesses and personal lives. I love to seeing women transform…..in many ways that lead them to becoming a more confident, strong woman. Having women on my team with the same goals, values and values that I have is also exciting. A team of women serving other women….now that's a concept I get very excited about!
I have grown in so many ways because of Mary Kay and our awesome, fearless leader Amie Gamboian. She has stretched me in ways I never thought possible. I remember telling her that I wanted someone in my life to hold me accountable. Be careful what you wish for :-). My self esteem has improved dramatically. My sense of leadership has expanded to "Don't just talk the talk, Walk the walk!!! Amie has so graciously taught me so many things and has always assured me that the "next step" would not happen if I wasn't ready to do the "next step!" Because of her great leadership I am able to pass on to my team members all her wisdom and teachings. Wow!!! What an awesome opportunity!
